What is Mediation? Mediation is a process where a neutral third party helps parties with conflicting interests attempt to resolve custody and visitation or financial issues.

When is Mediation used? Ms. Hipple is a certified court appointed mediator in Kane County for custody/visitation issues. In addition, she facilitates mediation of custody visitation, as well financial issues requested by the parties outside of the legal system.

How does Mediation work? Mediation is a specific process that differs from counseling, therapy or arbitration because it is 1) time limited, 2) specific issue oriented, 3) focuses on the future not the past and 4) the parties make the decisions -- while the mediator controls the process.

What are the Benefits of Mediation to Parties?
  • Greater client satisfaction
  • Can result in increased ongoing cooperation between the parties
  • Can be modest to significant savings in time, effort and money
